Went to see "La Mala Educación" by Pedro Almodóvar. Gael García Bernal, once again, blows me away. Almodóvar has taken Gael and made him an object of desire in this film. It is a good story, Almodóvar excels in that, but it won't win your heart, because it doesn't want to. In "Todo sobre mi madre", the instant Cecilia Roth sees her son run over by that car, she wins your sympathy and never lets go. In "La Mala Educación", the characters make you feel so betrayed and disgusted and bewildered, you end up wanting to scream: "Oh, fuck you all!". It puts you in the same frame of mind as "Matador", so probably most people who liked "Todo sobre mi madre", won't like this one as much. I would post the link to the official "Mala Educación" site but I find it too spoiler happy to recommend it.

Gael is a gutsy actor, though. I cringed at most of his scenes, but he is definitely God. Thankfully, I saw "Diarios de Motocicleta" before seeing this one. Wouldn't have been able to see Che Guevara in the same light ever again.
