Need to write an article about the modern history of Mayagüez, my birthplace. Of course, when you have lived 32 years in the same place, you do not pay any attention to its history, it is always the same boring crap.

So, I am trying to do my homework and stumbled upon this page. Whoa, I mean, this is supposed to be an article to MAKE people come here. I doubt it with tidbits like:

"Today the town is noted more for its industry than its aesthetic appeal."

"Today this waterway is notorious for the destructiveness of its currents, the ferocity of its sharks, and the thousands of boat people who arrive illegally from either Haiti or the Dominican Republic."

"Today the town's major industry is tuna packing." (Not true, the tuna all packed up and left)

"There was a scarcity of eligible bachelors in Mayagüez, and the farmers kidnapped the young sailors in hopes of providing their daughters with husbands ..." (Things haven't changed much, they should have stuck another today at the beginning of this sentence)

Adding insult to injury, L's decidedly smaller hometown gets this ravishing review. Heh.
