Shadow Gods

More than a month with so many things to write about, I decided to shut up and bear on. But I emerged from May with a renewed loving relationship, all the classes were passed including the first semester of the CCNA course (Cisco Networking Associate) and my bosses went to Europe, leaving me with a good consolation prize for not having vacations. I have been in charge of the editorial part of the newspaper for the last 3 weeks with no troubles whatsoever. Sadly, they return next Monday so party time is over.

I still haven't gone to OfficeMax with my resignation letter, I just call in week after week and ask to be kept out of schedule because I am not returning. Have to get off my ass one of these days, not because they can fire me but because they are keeping three years worth of vacations (about $800).

I have a new job that is not hard but the work environment is shit. I can deal with it because I saw so much bad shit in OMAX during 9 years, this is a walk in the park in comparison. It is an Internet based company subcontracted by another wildly famous site. Lots of glitches in the payroll department, haven't seen a check that arrived when it was due and didn't bounce. At first we were allowed to eat, surf the Web, listen to music as long as we made our quotas. Two months later, administration has decided to get tough on us and have imposed rules. Nothing too weird but annoying when you are used to working while munching on Doritos, wearing beach sandals and shorts, sleeveless shirt, talking on your cell, and updating your blog. I find it stupid: the quotas are impossible to meet if you are doing other things, so firing people who don't meet quotas seems simpler and fair. Plus it would be nice if they did their part in paying us regularly. Won't say much about this, since they made us sign a release where, honest to God, it said they would deploy some dispositives if we said anything about them. Battle Royale comes to mind:
