On the continuing saga of the funny shit hitting the fan of my life, I went to the department to enroll in the last courses for the **bullhorn, please** Bachelor in Mathematics,Computer Sciences minor degree. I asked the counselor to check my courses in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises next December.
"Operating Systems - check"
"Linear Algebra - check"
"Abstract Math - check"
"Undergraduate Seminar - check"
"English..."
"What?"
"English. As in second year English. You are missing one English course."
"Pardon my ENGLISH but, WHAT THE FUCK??!!"
Even though I was pissed, it is only an English course, could have been worse, could have been Phys Ed. I proceed to look for courses to select:
Creative Writing - not an option, I need six credits in English Lit AND the English Dept. blessing.
Writing for the Media - no spaces available.
Technical Writing - no spaces available.
Themes in Cinema - of course, no spaces available.
American novel from 1850's to now - no spaces available.
So I had to settle for English literature from 1798 to Modern Age with L's favorite professor: Nandita.
Hilarious.
P.D. I just noticed that during summer there is space available for the course: Writing for the Media. I enrolled in it and I really hope being able to ditch the Literature one. Why should I not be able? The fact is I study at the government's university and it is a possibility that they will close for the summer for lack of funds. Fuck politicians, again!
